Brendan Bellomo is a multi award winning Director for film, television and commercials.
He is an NYU alumnus, whose work has been screened at the San Francisco International Film Festival, DGA and Lincoln Center while attending his undergraduate studies. During his time at NYU, Mr. Bellomo also went on to Direct “Bohemibot,” a live action sci-fi short. An ambitious undertaking, the film took over two years to complete with an all volunteer cast and crew of over 200 students and professionals from 11 countries. “Bohemibot” went on to screen at over 30 film festivals and garnered numerous awards including Best Short, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Design and Best Cinematography. In 2009 Mr. Bellomo received the Student Academy Award for Directing.
In addition to Directing, Mr. Bellomo also works as a VFX Supervisor, having overseen over 3,000 VFX shots for film, television and commercials. He supervised the 2012 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner and Best Picture Oscar nominee Beasts of the Southern Wild (Fox Searchlight). He is also frequently brought on to VFX Supervise special live-action shoots and CGI projects (including NBC’s The Blacklist, HBO’s The Wire, and River Road Entertainment’s Love and Mercy).
Mr. Bellomo was also asked by NYU to develop and teach the first Visual Effects course at Tisch School of the Arts. He taught the course for three years as an adjunct professor.
Recently, Mr. Bellomo has partnered with engineers hailing from SpaceX, Apple, and The Mill to design and build new robotic-camera-control systems. The new production environment enables the animation of live-action elements and precise choreography for the integration of performance capture, projection mapping, live-virtual sets and CGI.
